Safeway Fresh Foods Recalls Sunnyside Farms Organic Butternut Squash Because of Possible Health Risk

Safeway Fresh Foods of Vineland, NJ, is recalling its 32-oz. Diced Organic Butternut Squash product as it has the potential to be contaminated with Escherichia coli O45. E. coli O45 causes a diarrheal illness often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly; the condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.

The 32-oz. diced Butternut was distributed only to Costco in the following states, Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Consumers who specifically purchased Costco item 20522, UPC 040232244124, 32-oz. diced Organic Butternut Squash between September 7, 2023, and September 15, 2023, with a use by date of 09/19/2023 date code are urged to return this item to your local Costco. If you have any product with this date code remaining, do not consume.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by the company detected the presence of E. coli O45.

Life Raft Treats has Expanded their Recalls of Ice Cream Products, Not Fried Chicken And Life Is Peachy, Due to Possible Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination

Life Raft Treats is expanding their recall of their Not Fried Chicken 64 oz bucket, Not Fried Chicken 2.5 oz bar UPC 8 60006 18210 6 and Life Is Peachy 6 count box ice cream products, to include the BEST BY DATES up to and including AUG 08282024 due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and to return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund or they may discard the product. TAMA Corporation Issues Allergy Alert for Undeclared Wheat, Soy and Yellow #5 in "Cachapas de Maiz PAISA"

Tama Corp. of Doral, FL, is recalling its 24-ounce packages of "Cachapas de Maiz Paisa" because they contain undeclared wheat, soy and Yellow #5. People who have allergies to any of these run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled "Cachapas de Maiz Paisa" were distributed nationwide, in retail stores.

The product is packaged in a 24-ounce, clear plastic package.

Recalled lot numbers are: 31082301, 07092301, 06092301, 05092301, 04092301, 29082301, 30082301, 28082301, 31072301, 01082301, 02082301, 03082301, 08082301, 09082301, 10082301, 14082301, 15082301, 16082301, 17082301, 21082301, 22082301, 23082301, 24072301, 25072301, 26072301, 31072301, 28082301, 21072301, 27072301, 17082301, 14082301, 20072301, 21072301, 26072301, 07082301, 08062301, 30082301, 24082301, 12072301.

Lot codes can be found on the bottom right corner of the package, next to the Best if Used by Date. Product UPC: 838795000109.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered during an inspection that the allergens-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of them, due to a labeling error.
